A show combining intimate songwriting with grand sound

Northern singer-songwriter and pianist Jenny Lascelles heads to The Cumberland Arms for what promises to be a compelling home-town show.

Joined by her brilliant 6-piece band, Lascelles performs highly-acclaimed tracks from her latest releases, as heard on BBC Radio Newcastle and BBC Radio Scotland.

Having played at Northern Kin Festival, The Cluny, HMV Newcastle, and The Half-Moon Putney, as well as a sell-out album launch for ‘A Little Louder’ and her first UK-wide tour in 2022, Lascelles returns to the Ouseburn to celebrate the Newcastle Fringe Festival.

Expect intimate and soul-stirring songwriting combined with grand sound, performed at a beloved local venue.

Ian Briedes

North-East songwriter, Ian Briedis, has been an active part of the Newcastle music scene for nearly two decades, plying his trade primarily as a guitarist, in bands such as The Unstable Tables, The Electric Peasants, and more recently, alongside Jenny Lascelles.

Drawing inspiration from an eclectic mix of musical influences including Radiohead, Talking Heads, Elvis Costello, and Johnny Cash, Ian has crafted a unique sound with his distinctive guitar style, powerful vocals and introspective song writing. His live performances are emotive and intense.

Hot Mess

Myth. Fracas. "Band". Join Coco Schnell, Flying V and their loop pedal 'Linda' for a low-fi dance party and death by nostalgia.

Hot Mess have been delighting and confusing audiences in the North East for over six years. Sisters 'Coco Schnell' and 'Flying V' are stuck in a house party somewhere between 1990 and 2010 and see no reason to leave. With the help of a range of cheap instruments and a malfunctioning loop pedal named 'Linda' they bring a low-fi, death by nostalgia, cover-fuelled dance party to any venue with Pinot Grigio.

Check them out in action here.
